My greatest satisfaction as a residential architect derives from creating environments that bring joy to you, the owner. I specialize in thorough design solutions and am most effective coordinating the entire project from conceptual design and the drafting of construction documents to creation of the exterior shell and structure and selection of interior finishes. I collaborate with individual tradespeople – both from my network and those selected by my clients – to ensure your interests are reflected in every decision and executed to your satisfaction. I am also available for master planning, conceptualizing and consulting.

We begin with a conversation that is centered on the things that are meaningful to you and what you want to accomplish in your project. This interview establishes the scope of work as well as possible outcomes and preliminary costs. The consultation is free of charge and is used to generate initial estimates for the design process.

This three-step process lays the creative foundation for our work and also provides the planning and detail necessary for the completion of construction documents. It allows us to establish and articulate our goals in advance of any work, thus ensuring that all contractors and other partners have the information they need to bid the job accordingly and execute it faultlessly.

1. Conceptual Plans
In this first step of the process, the schematic design phase, I take thorough measures of your home or site, generate drawings of existing conditions, and offer creative solutions to meet your needs. We explore these options and agree on a conceptual plan that will be the basis for the construction budget.

2. Design Development
In this phase we select products and discuss all pieces in such detail that we feel comfortable with our decisions. Floor plans, lighting layouts, cabinet layouts, initial paint colors, interior and exterior elevations, and trim details are determined here.

3. Construction documents
The result of this final phase is a cohesive set of working drawings that will allow anyone involved in the supply of product or construction of the project to understand what is expected of them for successful completion.

I am happy to help promote responsible stewardship of resources. There are many opportunities for this such as selections to reduce water & energy costs, exploring initial costs vs. maintenance costs, the orientation, configuration & landscaping of projects, construction methods, use of recycling or recycled products.
